I bought this book for my wife, and she was delighted. She is a licensed optician and swears this is the best resource she has seen for her occupation.After buying this book, I did find a website that you can sign up for (one-time fee) which offers online training videos and will give you a PDF version of this book for free.
Been doing optical work 45 years.Licensed in Virginia and trained numerous people to get their state license. This is a great book for new hires and those who would like to refresh their knowledge. Tops on my list.
I was hired to be an Optician a few days ago, but wouldn't start for 2 weeks. I was so excited to start learning that I order the book for myself and have been studying every spare moment! It's easy to read and follow and makes me 1000% more confident for my first day
A LOT of material to cover in one text. This is well organized and covers the most important topics quite well. A good refresher and reference for moderately experienced opticians and an excellent starting point for someone new to the field.
VERY simplified. I got it to use as a study guide for my ABO certification and it felt too simple. Didn't delve deep enough for me.
An excellent guide for me as a newcomer in an O.D.'s office that sells eyeglasses to come up to speed.
The Training Manual was just that, a textbook covering many aspects of personal optics and working in the eye-glasses dispensing arena. It includes a general overview of optics, especially for corrective glasses; but also extends on into frame selection, styles and fitting. Simply curious and needing to be an informed consumer, I found it complete and useful beyond my needs.
I absolutely love this book. Full of information and easy to understand. I would have given it five stars because of the information but I have to give it one star because of the ink. The print is very light and very hard to read. I have to use a 100 watt bulb to see the print.
